Welcome to my substack.

Having been an accredited member of the UK’s Parliamentary Press Gallery since 2018, I have gained an understanding of the fascinating dynamic between politics, government, and media. I hope to bring that perspective to the pages of this newsletter.

Here, I will be writing one (hopefully thoughtful) substantive piece of analysis per week. I like to take a rationalist pro-market approach to ideas. Whether you agree or disagree with me (and hopefully there will be plenty of both) I hope you will find it interesting.

Extended articles will soon be reserved for paid subscribers, while shorter ones will remain free for all.

After fun and games in the world of student politics, including satirising the National Union of Students in campaigns that won national attention, and running the national student wing of the Vote Leave campaign, I moved to Westminster to work for the mischievous and fast paced centre-right political news website Guido Fawkes from 2018-2021. Since 2021 I have worked as Political Correspondent for GB News.

Through the Brexit years I became a familiar face in the world of television punditry, regularly appearing on shows from Good Morning Britain to Politics Live, Sky News to Newsnight, and BBC Breakfast to Question Time.

I host a morning political programme on British TV - The Briefing with Tom Harwood, airing weekdays from 0930 only on GB News.

Journalist, broadcaster, political commentator. I probably agree with you more than you think I do.
